About Jurgens Hendriks

In 1974, Jurgens Hendriks completed his doctoral research at the University of Edinburgh and, in 1975, exchanged Scotland's chill for the heat of the Northern Cape. For ten years he worked as a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church at Upington where he was involved especially with the establishment of the new Synod of the Northern Cape and the development of the Uizip Conference Centre / Youth Development project. In 1982, the congregation and region were blessed with a revival, which led to the development of integral ministerial adaptations (congregational development). Partly as a result of this, he was called to the Faculty of Theology to establish the chair of Congregational Development / Ministerial Practice.

Van ʼn pa se kant gesien, is die geleentheid van jou kinders se geboorte emosioneel. Can a Seminary be converted? Could something like a theological rebirth be possible? What does an academic revival look like?

From a father’s perspective, the birth of one’s child is emotional. Upon hearing its first cry when the doctor lifts out the little body, one’s tears are the most liberating ever. Not that I can speak on behalf of the mother, but the baby’s first cry “deletes” the nine months of discomfort, an aching body, nausea and the pain of the birth! Continue reading

Lausanne 3 indrukke | Lausanne 3 impressions

Sunday - October 24 (2)

The eight days at Lausanne 3 touched me intensely. It was a profound spiritual experience with a multitude of information and deep emotional fellowship. However, this will be a superficial answer. It was more.

Die agt dae by Lausanne 3 het my intens geraak. Die kort antwoord sal wees dat dit ʼn geestelike ervaring was met ʼn magdom feitelike inligting en oorstelpende emosionele indrukke. Dit is egter te maklik geantwoord. Lausanne 3 was veel meer. Continue reading
